Department of Fine Arts

Space Single building with six floors and one basement. Te-chun Gallery, which locates at the first floor of the building and a professional exhibition space, with a student’s experimental gallery in the basement, is nearly 400m2 in total.

Equipment Nearly thirty grand scale duplicated plaster statues imported from Louvre, a large electronic kiln, classrooms with electronic teaching devices, a departmental library with tens of thousands of professional monographs and journals, high-pixel scanners and copy stand.

Space Lie in the pleasant Qing’tian community, the main spaces of the department are the 1st to 3rd and 6th floor of Qing’tian Building, the other part and the MAC studio in the west wing of the 9th floor of NTNU’s General Building. Besides, Qing’tian 57 Gallery, a 66m2 space perfect for all kinds of static activities.

Equipment Electronic cutting platform, laser cutting, CNC engraving machine, vacuum former, UV Plotter, VR Lab, eye tracker, and professional facilities for editing, welding, sputtering and woodworking.

Graduate Institute of Art History

Director Candida Syndikus

Space Seminar rooms and study rooms at the fourth and fifth floor of the Qing’tian Building.

Equipment Couple of high-definition scanners and rich collection of professional books, monographs and journals of eastern and western art history also related disciplines are scattered in the institute and university’s library, GIAH is one of the academic institute equipped with the best professional collection of books in Taiwan.

Research Center for Conservation of Cultural Relics

Director Yuan-Feng Chang

Space The center is located at the 5th floor of the Pu Building. The floor area of the center is approximately 330 m2, which includes an office area, restoration area, teaching area, sink and chemical-weighing area and a photography studio for inspection and documentation. The center is equipped with constant temperature and humidity system, and security system for 24hrs.

Equipment Large acid and alkali resistance lab benches, tatami working area, UV-free lighting system, stereomicroscope and optical microscope, XRF, FTIR, Raman Spectrometer, shadowless surgical light, universal fume extraction hood, suction table, high table for restoration and mounting, photo studio, light wall, etc. In 2015, became the only university member of IRUG in Asia.

International Printmaking Center

Director Shiou Ping Liao

Space Room 202 in the Fine Arts Building, next to the printmaking classroom of Dept. of Fine Arts. The center provides printmaking courses and space for print collections. The Center owns more the 900 original prints collection form more than 20 countries, and is the featured professional teaching institute and exchange platform of printmaking of the nation.

Equipment Exhibition wall, large multi-function press machine, relief printing press machine, mini press machine, collection cabinet for A1 works, glass table for pressing, UV machine, block dryer, suction pressing table for silk screen printing, all kinds of rollers and squeegees, professional devices and tools for all types of printmaking.

Research Center for Taiwan Art History

Director Shih-Ming Pai

Brief Introduction Rich the achievement on research, publication, education and popularization of Taiwanese art history is the mission of the center. By executing the forward-looking, industrial-academic and vocational-educational projects the center strengthens its connection with domestic cultural constructions. In addition, the Center helps to plan curatorship courses, or curation plans for domestic art museums and cultural bureaus. The center is the bellwether and international platform of Taiwan Art History researches.

Research Center for Modern Ink Painting

Director Lien-Tung Chuang

Brief Introduction Bring to light the fruitful results of academic research, publication, education and popularization in modern ink painting that NTNU has achieved. The Center’s mission is being the first academic institute to connect modern ink painting and its social practice. Linking the national cultural policy, the center aims to build up the new look of modern ink painting.
